I have been waiting for this story almost as long as the rest of the Bishop clan and Kennedy Fox did not disappoint! These lifelong friends have been teased (by the author and other characters) in prior books in this series and we FINALLY get their story!
Ethan and Harper have been friends for forever as yet grew, their feelings did too. They both have been harboring feelings for the other but aren't sure if the other feels the same and they also don't want to ruin their friendship.
This story has it all. There's humor, angst, steamy sex, heartbreak, meddling side characters - there's never a dull point in this book.
My favorite part (besides Cupcake) was when Ethan laid it all on the line and gave his ultimatum. It was totally unexpected and had me thinking that if Harper didn't want him, I'll take him!
I am 100% addicted to this series! Each book has a different trope and yet they still mesh so well as a whole.

I fished for my keys in my little clutch, stomping my way up the stairs. He was still on the first step, his eyes burning a hole through my back. The one time he looked at me with anything but frost, and I was completely immune to it. pushed the building entrance door open, ignoring his plea.
Funny, I’d always thought it’d feel divine to dismiss him the way he’d dismissed me. But right now, my feelings swirled among hurt, anger, and confusion. Triumph was nowhere in sight, and glee was miles away. I was almost past the threshold when his next words gave me pause.
“Too scared to give me ten minutes of your time?” he challenged, the smirk in his voice like a stab in my back. I froze. Now I recognized him. Cold, calculated. Playfully ruthless. “If you’re so over me and not at all tempted to be under me once we get upstairs, you can go back to your blissful, Chase-free existence after I say my piece, no?”

This author excels at writing stories with hotholes and this story is no exception!
Chase Black did Maddie Goldbloom wrong.
Now, after she's found a new relationship, he decides to darken her doorstep - literally. He needs something from her and TELLS HER she's going to help instead of what must people do when they need something - ASK.
However, THIS Maddie is not the same Maddie that Chase remembers. This Maddie has a smart mouth and isn't a pushover. She's opinionated and has grown a backbone where Chase is concerned.
These two are so delicious! It's a constant push and pull throughout the entire story!
You know a book is good when it makes you feel! It doesn't matter the actual feeling as long as I'm feeling something and HOLY COW did I feel lots of emotions throughout this story!
I laughed and I cried throughout the book. I could feel the highs and the lows of the characters (and not just the main characters).
Watching both of these characters evolve throughout the story was EVERYTHING.
Another way to know it's a good book is when I don't want it to end. I was invested with not just Chase and Maddie, but also with the entire Black family as well as Maddie's best friend, Layla and Chase's best friend, Grant. I really hope LJ Shen plans on revisiting this world because there are still stories that need to be told.
