Tempting the Cowboy

Circle B Ranch, #8

Tempting the Cowboy is now available on all retailers!

Kane Bishop’s content with living and working on the ranch, but something is missing—a family of his own. After his twin brother married the woman he once loved, Kane has moved on and is now focusing on new things. When his best friend’s little sister re-enters his life, the attraction is undeniable, but the timing is all wrong. He should keep his distance and not tempt fate, but he can’t get her out of his head. Ivy’s had a secret crush on Kane for as long as she can remember. Although she’s an introverted bookworm who hasn’t dated much, she’s ready to go after him. He might be a six-foot-three, inked, muscular god who’s out of her league, but she wants him to be her first and only. She’ll risk it all to get his attention, but it won’t be easy since he’s off-limits. Giving in to temptation doesn’t come without consequences—it’ll either bring them together or tear them apart.
**Tempting the Cowboy is a complete stand-alone and can be read without reading any of the other books or spin-off series, but if you prefer to read in order, start with Hitching the Cowboy as the characters and families do interconnect.**

Kennedy Fox has done it again! They've delivered a story that once I started, I just couldn't put it down!

You know the saying that a man wants a lady on the street and a freak in the bed? Kane Bishop is the male version of this. He is thoughtful, attentive, caring and behind closed doors he's got a whole other side.

I really loved that Ivy was a booktrovert. Her character was so relatable.

I really enjoyed reading Kane's happy ending but I'm also sad because I know the ending to this series is very near.

I'm going to miss the Bishop family.

Exclusive Excerpt:

He wants to talk, well, we’ll talk. Now. Adrenaline pumps in my veins to provide fuel for my goal. Boldly, I press the doorbell on his suite. It takes a few rings before he opens it and whammo! Lachlan stands before me with damp hair, bare feet, and only a towel slung low at his hips. The eight-pack abs and the v-cuts of his Adonis belt on full blast. A feathery happy trail disappears below the towel. It directs my eyes to the outline of a long, thick cock with a mushroom head rests against his thigh, damn near to the middle of it. My pussy spasms, and my ovaries explode. “Haley?” He asks, unsure since I stand dumbstruck before him. I blink and pick my jaw up from the floor. “L—Lachlan,” I squawk, then clear my suddenly parched throat and try again. “Lachlan, you wanted to speak with me.” Now he blinks but recovers quickly. With a slight nod, he opens the door further and steps aside. I return his nod and enter the lion’s domain—I mean Lachlan’s suite. Thankful I don’t collapse on my jellied knees, I make my way to a sofa. Remembering my finishing school pointers on being a lady, I sit gracefully and cross my legs at the ankles. My gaze lifts to Lachlan expectantly. “Er… Give me a second to change,” he says as he runs his thick fingers through his hair, biceps flex. I nod and smooth my dress. Lachlan tracks my movement, then swipes his hand over his face with a low groan before he pivots on his heel. He returns in a black t-shirt that molds to his muscular torso and a pair of gray sweatpants that fail to hide his massive bulge. Unconsciously, I lick my lips as I stare at his crotch. Lachlan coughs. I drag my eyes up to his as I take in his flat stomach and pronounced pecs. Damn, this man is fine. “Are you all right, Haley?” He asks with his head tilted as he observes me. “Absolutely,” I respond. “So, talk to me, Lachlan. I’m all yours.” My sassy demand makes him stifle a chuckle. He nods and sits on the sofa across from me. I purse my lips at his choice of seating. “I won’t bite, you know. Well, unless…” I bait him with a flutter of my eyelashes. Damn, I’m a wild girl! The corner of his mouth quirks up. “I want to speak with you, but perhaps tomorrow would be better.” Lachlan says and moves to the minibar. “Here, drink some water. You’ll feel better.” I gape at him. Oh no, he didn’t. “You know what would make me feel better, Lachlan Jackson?” I query as I swat the bottle of water from his hand. “You! You on my lips, not some bubbly water!” His eyes pop from their sockets like a cartoon character. “You tease me with your heated gazes, then ignore me! Well, I’m tired of waiting for you to make a move, Lachlan! So, here I am. Fuck me!” I shout.

New Release + Review: Will by Kat Savage

Release Date: June 22

Willette Archer has a secret—though some would argue how well kept it actually is. As right-hand woman and best friend to the owner of Bird’s Eye Tattoo Studio, her job has become her whole life. So, she occupies her days with shop decisions to avoid her disappointing dating life.

Of course, that might also have something to do with her two-decade old infatuation with her aforementioned best friend’s older brother.

Derek Tanner is at a loss—with basically everything. His apartment lease is up, most of his belongings are somewhere in storage, and the good doctor has been pulling extra shifts at the hospital due to lack of staff. So, yeah. His life is chaos. Thanks to these wonderful circumstances, dating is nowhere on his radar.

When his little brother suggests he stay in Willette’s spare room for the time being, he’s both grateful and hesitant. Sure, he grew up with Will too, but they’ve never been as close—let alone in close quarters.

It doesn’t take very long for Doctor Derek to start seeing Will in a new light. This makes him think perhaps he should be examined. Will, on the other hand, is this close to feigning injury just so he’ll touch her already.

When boundaries are crossed and relationships are finally taken to the next level, will Willette get exactly what she’s been hoping for since childhood, or will her fantasy be forever ruined?

I love Willette! I fell in love with her in Hawk's story and am so glad Kat Savage gave us her story next. She's a mix of salty and sweet, fierce and vulnerable.

Will is Hawk's best friend since childhood and also his coworker...and she has a secret she's been keeping from Hawk for forever.

She's in love with his brother, Derek.

Derek has decided to relocate to the area and need a place to stay. Guys who gets volunteered to let Derek stay at their place while he finds his own residence! Will!

It's a sweet, fun story until Derek finds out that Will's attraction to him isn't something that just developed.

I love how Kat Savage has given us this series filled opposites attract characters and make them work so well - with each other and to the reader.

I can't wait to see what she has in store with Avery and Hanson!

Meet Kat Savage

Kat Savage resides in Louisville, Kentucky with her three beautiful children, her hunky spouse, and two spoiled dogs. She secretly has hope of getting chickens one day.

By day, she’s an office manager, pushing paperwork and daydreaming. When she’s not at her nine-to-five, she’s writing. Or thinking about writing. Or preparing books and book stuff. Or quite possibly, designing stuff for other people’s books.

She was driven to writing out of a need to distraction and self-preservation after the death of her sister in 2013. Since then, it’s snowballed into a full blown passion she can’t escape. Even on the toughest days, she wouldn’t want to.

She writes poetry packed with real, raw, and sometimes ugly truths. She won’t lie. Her goal is to make you ache, in that perfect delicious way we often secretly crave.

Shortly after putting her poetry and prose out into the world, she turned to novel writing. Savage is a natural storyteller, getting better with each book. She tries to give the characters in her novels depth, whether they’re serious or comical, she builds them in layers with the hope that you see a little of yourself in some of them.

Excerpt Reveal: The Crush by Penelope Ward

Title: The Crush

Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 22, 2021

BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone, second-chance story of forbidden love…

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace.

He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had.

Fast forward a decade.

We were all in our twenties now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died.

It was just the three of us—an odd family dynamic.

Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever.

But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

I was pretty much hot and bothered twenty-four-seven.

And he was torn.

The signs were subtle, at first. Like on movie night, I’d casually rest my leg against his, and he wouldn’t exactly shift away.

Still, I assumed he would never…go there.

Nathan would kill us.

The knowledge of that wasn’t enough to stop the inevitable, though.

Eventually our slow burn exploded.

But more than the physical attraction, we’d developed a strong connection.

We just couldn’t get caught, right?

That sounded simple.

Until it wasn’t.

This is a story of forbidden love, broken trust, and an unexpected second chance.

EXCERPT

“I’m gonna grab a beer,” he said. “You want something?”
“I’ll take a beer, too.”
He chuckled. “Is it bad that I had to think for a second whether you’re legal to drink? It feels wrong giving you alcohol, for some reason.”
“You’ve dropped me off at the damn bar! How could you think that?”
“I know. It’s fucked-up.” He laughed as he walked backwards into the house. “Be right back.”
A minute later, Jace returned with two chilled bottles of Miller Lite. He popped one open and handed it to me.
“Thanks.” I took a long sip that felt great going down.
We polished off the rest of the food, and by the time I finished the beer, I felt pretty tipsy. Between the soft breeze blowing Jace’s scent my way and the buzz, I was on cloud nine.
Jace took it upon himself to clear our wrappers and napkins, stuffing everything into the paper bag. As he went back into the kitchen, he asked, “Want another beer?”
“I’d love one.”
When he returned, he set the bottle in front of me and sat back down. He put his feet up on an empty chair and leaned his head back, closing his eyes.
He sighed. “This is exactly what I needed…to chill at home.”
That made me happy. “Give your head a break tonight. You can always worry about work tomorrow.”
“Yeah. I think I’m gonna take your advice on that.”
While his eyes were closed, I was able to enjoy staring at his profile—his strong, angular jaw and slightly cleft chin, his perfect nose and kissable lips, the way the sun brought out a reddish tone in his otherwise black hair. Jace was even more beautiful with the sun shining on him.
I eventually closed my eyes as well, enjoying the breeze that offset a little of the heat. My eyes opened suddenly when I heard his chair skid against the cement.
“Fuck it.” He got up. “I’ll be right back.”
My heart raced a little. What is he doing?
A few minutes later, Jace returned in his swim trunks. They were blue with tiny anchors, a nautical pattern. Not that I was looking closely at his lower half or anything. I’d just started to make my way up to his chest when he dove into the pool, his gorgeous, hard body disappearing under the sky blue water.
He emerged and shook his head to clear the water from his hair. “You comin’ in or what?”
I got goose bumps. I hadn’t planned to, but I couldn’t resist the invitation.
“Sure.” I got up from my seat and unwrapped the towel.
Jace watched as I entered the pool. But what was he thinking?
I dove in and swam toward him, feeling more comfortable in my bathing suit now that I was submerged in the water.
He flashed a mischievous grin. “Wanna race?”
I splashed him. “Why? You think you can beat me just cuz your legs are longer?”
He cocked a brow. “There’s only one way to find out, right?”
Over the next several minutes, Jace and I swam in tandem from one end of the pool to the other. Sometimes he’d beat me to the other side, and a few times, I beat him.
Eventually, we got into a water fight. The next thing I knew, he was chasing me, then lifting me up and tossing me in the water. He did that several times. It was the most fun I’d had in a long time. I hadn’t a care in the world.
Then he lifted me up again, and I was certain he was going to toss me into the water, just like all of the other times. Instead, though, he just held me. Our eyes locked as my legs wrapped around his waist. He was going to have to drop me, because I sure as hell wasn’t climbing off him willingly. As he continued to hold me, the world seemed to stop. I could see the reflection of the palm trees in his gorgeous eyes, made luminescent by the sun. Those eyes then dropped to my lips. I could see his chest rising and falling. He swallowed hard. Holy shit. Something was happening. My heart was going a mile a minute.
And then…
“What are you doing?”
Jace dropped me like a hot potato at the sound of Nathan’s voice. My body hit the water with a loud splash.
What the hell is he doing here? My voice was shaky as I wiped the water from my eyes. “Wha…why are you home? I thought you were driving to meet that girl.”
“She canceled on me, so I came back after the job interview.” Nathan’s eyes traveled between Jace and me. He seemed suspicious.
“Oh.” I exhaled, moving a strand of hair out of my mouth. “How…how did the interview go?”
“It was okay. Too hard to tell if they’re gonna call me back, though.” He looked straight at Jace. “You guys seemed to be having fun. Didn’t realize I was missing out on a…pool party.”
Jace was silent.
I felt the need to chime in. “Jace decided to take his debut dip in the pool. We were just playing around.”
Nathan looked between us again. “I see.”
Jace finally spoke. “Well, it’s hot as all hell today. So…”
“You guys down if I make some dinner?” Nathan finally asked.
“We actually already ate,” I told him. “Jace went to Checkers.”
Nathan turned to his friend. “Since when do you eat dinner this early?”
Jace cleared his throat. “I was starving.”
“We didn’t think you were going to be home,” I said. “Otherwise, we would’ve waited.”
“I guess I’ll give you that.”
Jace got out of the water and dried himself off. He then laid out on one of the loungers, displaying his gorgeous, tanned body in all of its glistening glory. His feet dangled off the end of the chair.
Nathan snapped his fingers in front of my face. “I asked if I got anything in the mail. Earth to Farrah.”
Jesus. I hadn’t even heard him the first time.

Excerpt

Squaring my shoulders, I pass offices and stray workers in the hall as I head toward his office. Following Claire’s instructions, I knock three times, waiting for a response before attempting to enter. My body jolts at the sound of his deep voice. It takes me a few seconds to recover before I find the courage to push inside his office. He’s sitting behind his desk again, looking down at paperwork. I didn’t have a chance to admire the view behind him the last time I was here, but I am now. His desk is huge, seated in front of his floor-to-ceiling windows with an immaculate view of New York behind him. His broad form hovers between skyscrapers and the bright sunlight streaming through the glass. I fidget by the door, unsure if I should sit or wait for him to give me instructions of some sort.

         “You’re late.”

Like I’ve tapped into a live wire, electricity sparks in my veins at the sound of his voice. I glance at the time on my phone, and my brows furrow in confusion. “I’m six minutes early.”

His lips thin, and slowly, he glances up from the paperwork before him and glares. His stare is a cold shot to the heart. The look is meant to hurt. “Six minutes? You think six minutes is early? An hour early is on time. Anything after that is unacceptable.”

I’m still standing there, gaping at him and this new information. That makes no sense whatsoever. Six minutes early is late, and an hour early is on time? What kind of fucked-up dimension did I just walk into? If that’s the case, why not just have my start time be a whole hour early?

“Sit down, Mrs. Fletcher,” he snaps, already irritated with me judging by the tone of his voice.

I cringe at the way he says my name. It’s as if saying Fletcher physically disgusts him. I lower myself into the seat across from him and clear my throat.

“You can just call me Daisy, Callan,” I murmur, trying to keep things light between us.

His pen drops to his paper, and his gaze shoots up to mine, full of barely restrained fury. I jolt back in my seat at the ire there. It sucks all the air out of the room, making it hard to breathe. “I’ll call you whatever the hell I want to call you, Mrs. Fletcher. And it’s sir or Mr. Reed.”

I open my mouth to respond, but no words come.

Who is this man?

“While I have you here, let’s get a few things straight. We are not friends. This is a job—one you aren’t even qualified for, I might add. The only reason you’re sitting across from me is because my sister begged me to give you this position. This is a one-week trial, and believe me when I say if you can’t keep up, then you’re out.”

My chest tightens with frustration. My teeth sink into the inside of my cheek, and I bite down until I taste the metallic tang of blood on my tongue. Anything to keep from lashing out at him. I won’t give him the satisfaction of seeing my aggravation. I blink back the tears burning behind my eyes. This happens quite often. When I get so enraged, it turns into tears of frustration.

He notices this. Of course, he does. Because as much as he’d like to pretend he doesn’t know me or remember me, Callan Reed has grown up with me by his side for years. He knows all my tics, knows exactly what buttons to push, and he clearly knows when I’m going to cry.

Callan scoffs, a menacing glint in his eyes. “Are you going to cry so soon, Mrs. Fletcher? Such a goddamn disappointment. You might as well leave now. There’s no way you’re going to last an entire week here.”

We stare at each other. My chest heaves as it works to accommodate the sudden bout of anger swarming through my veins. He thinks I’m weak. He thinks I’m still that little girl from all those years ago, but he’s wrong. I’ve been through hell this past year, and I’m not going to let Callan Reed be the one that brings me down. Not after I’ve endured so much.

Sniffing past the pressure in my nose, I slip my purse in front of me and grip it, using it as a shield of sorts.

“I am not going to cry, sir,” I grit. “And I can guarantee you, I’ll make it past the first week.” Callan rolls his eyes, and it only fuels my red haze of anger. I lean forward, so he can get my drift. “You know what? You’re right, Mr. Reed. We’re not friends. We’re nothing. You don’t know me anymore, and I don’t know you. You can’t beat me down any harder than life already has.”

Callan smirks. It’s not a friendly one; it’s one that has dread swirling through my gut and pain gripping my heart. “We’ll see about that.”

         “Do your worst,” I challenge.

A stare off ensues, both of us drilling holes into each other with the intensity of our gaze. He’s the first to break, and I take some victory in that. It doesn’t last long.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐-1/2

This book had my emotions all over the place!

I loved how it was written with groups of chapters told in a certain character's POV versus the POV changing every other chapter. The style, the words, everything about this book made it incredibly hard to put down!

This title couldn't have been any more perfect. Callan Reed could not pick a lane and stay in it. His emotions and attitude flipped more than a woman trying on clothes getting ready for a date. Just when he becomes redeemable, he gets pissy again and does something stupid!

Daisy - my heart broke for her over and over. This girl can not catch a break. When things start looking up, everything comes crashing down again.

I highly recommend this one. Just don't plan on doing anything else because it will suck you in.
