I am so glad TL Smith wrote this story! Cruel Beloved is inspired by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland's Cocky Bastard. I actually fell for Carla and a big part of me wanted Chase to pick her in his story. So, of course I'm over the flipping moon that TL Smith wrote her story - AND did an awesome job at that!
Corton Whiskey pretty much blackmails Carla Star into marrying him. Why? He doesn't share that with her. He only let's her know he's using her for his own good.
The chemistry between these two is incredibly hot! They want each other but at the same time, they DON'T WANT to want each other.
I love that both of them don't back down. It only makes the tension bigger and the fire hotter.
This was one of those books that once I started it, I couldn't put it down. It was that addictive!
The only reason I didn't give it five stars was the way everything reconciled so easily and quickly. It was literally the driving force behind why everything happened. I just wish it would have been given a little bit more attention and detail.
Other than that, this book had everything I love in my romance books. From the banter, the chemistry, the tension, the fighting, the sarcasm, everything flowed incredibly well.
