New Release + Review: Pause by Kylie Scott

Pause, an all new emotional friends-to-lovers standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott is available now!

An unpauseable new romance from New York Times bestselling, Audie Award winning author Kylie Scott!

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful—with her best friend—and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything.

Leif Larsen—tattooist, joker, and player—has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction. So when he needs a new roommate, he invites Anna to begin her new life with him.

Although their lives may have been put on pause, together they just might find a way to heal.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was an opposites-attract story with a twist.

The story starts when Anna wakes up from being in a coma after a horrific car accident. She soon realizes that what she had prior is now gone.

Leif is the man that saved her that night and she visits him only to realize he did more than just rescue her from that car.

It was a slow burn, angsty story that had me feeling all sorts of things. I couldn't help but empathize for Anna. What she had been through, her development, everything about her - even her reservations - made me love her. Leif - can he BE a better book boyfriend? Seriously- he was patient, he knew what Anna needed, he did everything for her benefit. Then there were those characters that made me want to throat punch them. It's been a while since I've had characters make me feel stabby, but this story gave them to me.

It's a shorter story and yet it didn't feel rushed at all.  It gave me ALL the feels that a full length novel would give me.
