My life is split into two parts—then and now.

Then:

I was a wife.

Married to a man who was my world and the father of my child. Then, one day, half of my heart was ripped out of my chest.

Now:

I’m a widow.

A single mom who has spent the last nine months trying like hell not to drown in an ocean of grief.

I survive in the in-between, but surviving isn't the same as living, and I’m not sure what living looks like anymore.

That is, until Jase Turner, my older brother’s best friend and my former crush,
comes back into my life.

We’re two people tethered together by strands of similar sorrow.

My husband had my past.

Jase wants my future.

And maybe where forever ends is just a different beginning.

Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"My home was ten miles away. Across the grassy knoll of Magnolia Memorial Gardens,  buried six feet beneath the coldd, dark earth. Inside a heart that had ceased beating."

This is an emotional, and at times heart-wrenching, story about Saylor, a woman who unexpectedly loses her husband and is now a single mother.
Unable to cope by herself anymore, she moves to Maplewood Falls to live with her older brother, Easton.
Jase is Easton's best friend and has been since childhood. He is the only person that has an inkling of what Saylor is dealing with.
Jase becomes Saylor's saving grace in more ways than one and Saylor and her son become Jase's.

To say this was an emotional read would be putting it mildly. I sobbed so much throughout this book! Before I scare you away, let me say there is also humor, hope, and a slow burning heat between the two main characters that make the tears worth reading this story!

I felt what the characters felt. When they hurt, I hurt. When they laughed, I wanted to laugh with them. I highlighted so many lines in this book, it's that good!

"For three hundred fifty-six days, I'd survived. On day three hundred fifty-seven, I wanted to die. "
This line - so much emotions in just two sentences! Half of this story is Saylor's experience with grief and how she copes with it. As a mom, she has to keep trekking along for her son's sake. Then there is the "moving on" side and the feelings that come with it.

If you are looking for a light read, keep moving, this is anything but. However, if you want a book that will move you and leave a lasting impression, you need to read this! Bonus - this is the first of a series (no cliffhanger) and the next book is going to be about Saylor's brother, Easton!!!
